This workshop is about designing large arrangements in widemouth vessels, using armatures and making refined color palette choices. With 13 stunning rows of ombre dahlias ready for harvest, we'll create large, sprawling dahlia arrangements and discuss color "do's" and "don'ts" and probably some "please, never ever's" (haha!) For flower enthusiasts who can build upon design foundations they already have, join us for a morning of garden-inspired floral design and leave with a stunning arrangement with a one of our favorite focal flowers: the DAHLIA! Here's a quick summary of how our workshops are structured:
- We'll begin with an overview of ideal ingredients for arranging. Using our Compote & Color guide (which you can take home for future reference!), we'll go over the basics of building in wide mouthed vases, creating appropriate proportions and shapes, and color theory.
- Then we'll head to the fields and gardens where you'll harvest the flowers you want in your arrangement, in any color palette you choose. Each attendee is encouraged to harvest a true bounty so there's plenty to pick from once design begins.
- With flower buckets in hand, we'll begin our step-by-step instructional on creating balanced, natural, garden-style arrangements. You are welcome to follow along or branch out on your own!
This event is suited for adults who want to take their design skills and knowledge to the next level.
All supplies are provided, including an earthenware vase you can select from our Farm Shop at the start of design. Complimentary water and flavored bubbly water will be provided to all.
What Varieties Will Be Available?
In early-October, dahlia field will be absolutely bursting with blooms showing off 13 rows in a beautiful ombre. Our compotes will be extremely dahlia heavy for a luxe, high-end look. Additional varieties we're expecting include zinnias, amaranth, cosmos, celosia, coxcomb, hyacinth beans, gomphrena, strawflower, jewels of opar, geranium, mint... and more! The dahlias are going to take center stage!
What Should I Wear?
We recommend close-toed shoes and clothing that you could get a little dirt or water on! Attendees will be walking through our gardens harvesting their own flowers, potentially bending or kneeling for fresh cuts. Wear something comfortable and plan accordingly for weather!
Inclement Weather Plan:
A gentle mist or light rain? The show will go on!
A downpour? We'll reschedule this event to Saturday October 11th, 10am - 12pm. All attendees will be notified as soon as possible via email (and text, if you provide your number at checkout). If this event is rescheduled and you cannot attend on the new date, your ticket(s) will be kindly refunded!
